Grasshopper3 – 2.8 MP Sony ICX674 CCD
The new Grasshopper3 GS3-U3-28S5 camera models are based on color and monochrome versions of the fast and highly sensitive Sony ICX674, a 2/3" CCD featuring 4.54 micron square pixels and capable of sending 1932 x 1452 images at 26 FPS. The ICX674 sensor supports high definition (HD) 1080p30 imaging and uses Sony's EXview HAD CCD II™ technology to improve quantum efficiency, reduce smear, and increase sensitivity, including into the near infrared.

Granule and Powder Inspection with Flea3 GigE cameras
Both the pharmaceutical and food industries require fast, highly accurate inspection systems for detecting and separating foreign materials from large batches of raw granules and powders. These bulk materials are generally encapsulated, made into tablets, or packaged into sachets by manufacturing companies. JPS Imaging Limited has developed an inspection system that uses off-the-shelf machine-vision components including six Flea3 1.3 MP GigE Vision cameras featuring the Sony ICX445 global shutter CCD sensor.

USB3 Vision Plugfest in Seoul, Korea
As a founding member of the USB3 Vision Technical Committee, Point Grey recently participated in the Spring Vision Standards Conference and Plugfest in Seoul, Korea. The release of v 1.0 of the USB3 Vision Standard has proven to be robust and comprehensive. Also, development is almost complete on a certification framework for USB3 Vision device compliance. Point Grey's upcoming firmware version is in the final testing stages and will allow all existing Flea3 USB3 cameras to upgrade to the new standard.
