POINT GREY SHOWS NEW "INNOVATIONS IN IMAGING" AT VISION 2007 IN STUTTGART

Point Grey main booth

Point Grey main booth at VISION 2007 in Stuttgart, Germany

Product Demonstrations: FireWire solutions from A to B

Real Dual
Grasshopper
Bottle Inspection
Flea2
Spherical Vision
Ladybug2

Real Dual: two Grasshopper IEEE-1394b (FireWire) cameras streaming 135MB/s of image data in real-time into one FirePRO 1394b dual bus PCI Express card. Each component in the imaging pipeline is provided by Point Grey Research, including the lenses, cameras, high flex cables, PCI Express card, and FlyCapture image acquisition drivers and software.

The Bottle Inspection demo used Machine Vision Consulting's Circum-Spect system and five Point Grey Flea2's to view the circumference of a circular object such as a can or bottle. Built on Cognex OmniView vision technology, it can perform accurate 360° inspection in a single image, without rotating or reorienting the part or slowing down the manufacturing line.

The Ladybug2 spherical digital video camera system of 6 tightly packed 1024x768 CCD sensors streams images at 30 FPS over an IEEE-1394b interface to the host system. The Ladybug SDK provides software tools for panoramic image generation, rendering virtual camera views, and interfacing with GPS.

New Technology Unveiled

1.3MP and 5MP Flea2 200FPS Grasshopper PCI Express Grasshopper ProFUSION 25

World's smallest 5MP 1394b camera: The popular Flea2 family of ultra-compact IEEE-1394b (FireWire) digital cameras is set to expand in Q1 208 with the addition of four new models based on the 1.3MP Sony ICX445 and 5.0MP ICX655. These new models also come equipped with a frame buffer and non-volatile data storage. [more info]

200 FPS Grasshopper: Two new Grasshopper IEEE-1394b camera models, based on the 0.3MP Kodak KAI-0340 1/3" CCD, can generate 640x480 resolution images at 200 FPS. GRAS-03K2 models coming Q1 2008. [more info]

PCI Express Grasshopper: Demonstrating Point Grey's dedication to "Innovation in Imaging", a 5.0MP Grasshopper was equipped with a PCI Express x1 (250MB/s) serial interface, allowing it to stream images at 132MB/s directly into the host system's main memory. Technology demo only. [more info]

World's first PCI Express camera: ProFUSION 25, designed and manufactured by ViewPLUS Inc., is a 5x5 camera array system with 25 VGA resolution cameras housed inside a very compact body, making it ideal for research applications. It is also the world's first camera with a PCIe interface. [more info]

FirePRO™ industrial 1394b components are designed to maximize the effectiveness of the imaging pipeline, while minimizing the costs of component failure and downtime. All FirePRO hubs, repeaters and host adapter cards are designed and manufactured by Point Grey Research, and feature locking connections, backward compatibility with 1394a, and an industry leading 2 year warranty.

PCI Express Card 2 Port Repeater 5 Port Hub

World's first dual bus 1394b PCI Express card: The FirePRO™ IEEE-1394b low profile PCI Express card is ideal for multiple camera arrays or high data rate applications. The dual bus option allows simultaneous image acquisition from up to 16 cameras, and total data throughput of 160MB/s, using a single host adapter. [more info]

Extend Point Grey cameras to 30 meters: The FirePRO 2-port 1394b repeater and 3- and 5-port hubs offer locking 1394b ports, metal case designed for demanding industrial environments, and status LED to indicate power and device connection.
