Just weeks after the launch of its first Flea3 USB 3.0 camera, Point Grey is delivering on its promise to develop a full product family around the USB 3.0 interface. This month, Point Grey has launched a PCIe USB 3.0 host controller card and a second Flea3 USB 3.0 model based on monochrome and color versions of the Sony® IMX035 capable of generating 1.3 megapixel images at 120 FPS. Point Grey Expands World's Smallest GigE Vision Camera Family, New Flea3 VGA and XGA models
With their unique combination of sensors, size, interface, and cable length support, the new Flea3s are perfectly suited for analog camera replacement. The new models are based on color and monochrome versions of the industry's most popular VGA and XGA image sensors. The FL3-GE-03S2 uses the 1/3-inch Sony ICX424 CCD – featuring sensitive 7.4 micron square pixels – and is capable of sending 648x488 images at 82 FPS over the camera's Gigabit Ethernet interface. The FL3-GE-08S2 uses the 1/3-inch ICX204 CCD and can transmit 1032x776 images at 31 FPS. Read more...

Highlights from VISION 2011 Stuttgart
VISION 2011 was another record breaking success with over 7,000 visitors and 323 exhibitors from a total of 50 countries. One in three visitors came from abroad and this year saw a pronounced rise in the number of visitors from Asia; a strong indicator that Asian demand for machine vision components continues to grow. USB3Vision™ First White Paper
The USB3 Vision standard committee recently released version 1 of the USB3 Vision White Paper. The paper documents the objectives for USB3 Vision, provides an architectural overview, and outlines key operations to be addressed by the USB3 standard.
Point Grey will be hosting the next USB3Vision™ standard committee meeting in Vancouver, Canada from Feb 13-17 2012.
