Issue:
Difficulties installing drivers on WinXP
Solution:
Due to a difference in the driver ranking scheme between Windows 2000 and Windows XP, users trying to install XP friendly versions of the following PGR camera drivers may have difficulties when the driver is being associated with the camera.- up to PGRFlycapture v1.3.3.2 with the Firefly and Dragonfly
- up to Digiclops v2.3.3.1 with the Bumblebee
- up to PGRLadybug v1.0.2.3
NOTE: This problem does not affect the installation of the Digiclops camera system.
The following series of steps will allow the user to get their system working:- Plug in the camera.
- Go to the Device Manager (Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager).
- Open 'Imaging Devices'.
- Right click on the 'Generic 1394 Destop Camera'
- Select 'Update Driver'.
- The Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard will pop up.
- Select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)'. - Press 'Next'.
- Hardware Update Wizard.
- Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install'. - Press 'Next'.
- Hardware Update Wizard.
- Select 'Have Disk'.
- Install from Disk.
- Select 'Browse'. - Browse to C:\Program files\Point Grey Research\PGRFlyCapture\driver\pgrcam.inf or the equivalent folder. - Press 'Open'. - Install from Disk, press 'ok'
- Select 'PGR Dragonfly', 'PGR FireFly', 'PGR Bumblebee' or 'PGR Ladybug', press 'Next'.
- Window will pop up explaining that the driver has not passed windows logo testing.
- Press 'Continue Anyway'.
- Hardware Update Wizard, Completing the Hardware Update Wizard.
- Press 'Finish'.
- Run FlyCap.
