Point Grey to Showcase Some of the World's Smallest and Fastest Cameras at VISION 2010

October 7, 2010 - Point Grey, a world leader of advanced imaging products, will be showcasing some of the world’s smallest and fastest cameras at VISION 2010 in Stuttgart, Germany. Visitors can expect to see many of Point Grey's popular FireWire and USB 2.0 cameras running live, as well as several new ground-breaking cameras, featuring new image sensors and digital interfaces.Flea3 - GigE, USB 3.0, FireWireThe Flea3, which measures just 29 x 29 x 30 mm in size, will take center stage at VISION 2010. Upcoming GigE and USB 3.0 models - the smallest of their kind in the world - will be demonstrated alongside currently available FireWire-b models. The USB 3.0 FL3-U3 series will offer a variety of low-cost, high-speed, CMOS image sensors. Two sensor models will be demonstrated in Stuttgart: the 3 MP Sony IMX036, capable of streaming uncompressed high-definition 1080p video at 60 FPS; and the Cypress VITA1300, a 1.3 MP 150 FPS global shutter sensor ideal for machine vision. The GigE Vision-compliant FL3-GE series is ideally suited to those applications that need long cable lengths and standard, widely available networking components. The first available models will be based on the Sony ICX618 CCD (VGA at 120 FPS) and the ICX445 CCD (1.3 MP at 30 FPS).The new Grasshopper2 GigE Vision cameras offer their own unique competitive advantages. The GS2-GE-20S4 is the only GigE camera that runs the Sony ICX274 - the industry's favorite 2 MP image sensor - at 30 FPS, and the GS2-GE-50S5 is the smallest GigE camera to use the Sony ICX625, a highly sensitive 5 MP CCD capable of running at 15 FPS. The compact Grasshopper2 measures just 44 x 29 x 58 mm in size, and offers new features such as opto-isolated GPIO for industrial triggering and strobe output, new multi-exposure trigger modes, and improved on-camera status monitoring. Also on display will be the Gazelle Camera Link series offering an unsurpassed combination of size, speed and price. The high resolution, high frame rate CMOS image sensors by CMOSIS include a 2.2 MP 2/3-inch sensor that runs at 280 FPS, and a 4.1 MP 1-inch sensor at 150 FPS. The Gazelle measures just 44 x 29 x 58 mm in size, making it the smallest Full (8-tap) Camera Link camera in the world.A new quad-tap Sony EXview HAD CCD, the ICX674, will be demonstrated at VISION in Point Grey's upcoming Grasshopper Express FireWire-b camera. The ICX674 is a 2/3-inch, 2.8 MP image sensor capable of running full resolution at 50 FPS, or in a 1080p mode at 60 FPS. The sensor's EXview HAD CCD technology and 4.54 micron square pixels offer exceptional image sensitivity and low-light performance.Point Grey will be exhibiting at VISION 2010 Stuttgart, Germany from November 9-11, 2010 in hall 4, booth A31.
