January 30, 2013 – Richmond, BC, Canada – Point Grey, a world-leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, high-performance digital cameras, is pleased to congratulate the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) and members of the USB3 Vision Technical Committee on the successful ratification of the new USB3 Vision standard.
The USB3 Vision specification is the result of many months of collaboration between some of the machine vision industry’s leading technology companies. The aim of the standard is to enable interoperability between USB 3.0 imaging components such as cameras, accessories and software. Like the popular GigE Vision standard, USB3 Vision will provide a framework for transmitting high-speed video and related control data.
Point Grey is the leading innovator of USB 3.0 technology and is one of the original three founding members of the USB3 Vision committee. Point Grey demonstrated the world’s first USB 3.0 camera in 2009 and was the first to serial production with its Flea3 USB 3.0 camera in 2011. With over 1,000 USB 3.0 customers and thousands of cameras sold, Point Grey is now leveraging its extensive experience to launch two ground-breaking new USB 3.0 cameras: the Grasshopper3 line of high-performance CCD-based cameras; and the Ladybug5 360° spherical imaging camera system.
