At the recent Embedded Vision Conference in Santa Clara, FLIR announced a new board-level form factor for its high performance Blackfly S line of area scan, machine vision cameras. These board-level models are designed for integrating into very tight spaces and measure 29 mm x 29 mm x 12 mm. They are ideal for embedded systems such as handheld devices and unmanned aerial vehicles.
While many board level cameras are limited in features, these new models provide the full Blackfly S feature set including both automatic and precise manual control over image capture and on-camera pre-processing. Like all Blackfly S cameras, these board level versions leverage the latest CMOS sensors and are compatible with desktop Windows and Linux on ARM, x64 and x86 hardware. For additional space savings, these models use a flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector, low profile JST GPIO connector, and do not come with a fixed lens mount.
The initial models use the 5 MP Sony Pregius IMX250 and IMX264 sensors and will be available in Q3 2018. For details, visit www.flir.com/mv
