Point Grey 'Breaking the Barriers' at VISION 2008
Point Grey 'Breaking the Barriers' at VISION 2008
October 10, 2008 - Stuttgart, GERMANY
Hall 4, Booth A31
Come and see Point Grey's latest products and live demos at VISION 2008 in Stuttgart, Germany from November 4th to 6th, 2008. Point Grey will demonstrate a wide array of new and innovative FireWire and USB 2.0 digital camera products that can help vision system designers break bandwidth, distance, size and other barriers to success. New products include 1.3 and 5 MP versions of the Flea2; the 800Mb/s 100m FirePRO LDR repeater; the Chameleon and Firefly MV USB 2.0 cameras; and a variety of high bandwidth FireWire imaging solutions.

BANDWIDTH: Point Grey will use high resolution, high frame rate Grasshoppers and the unique FirePRO™ dual-bus 1394b PCI Express card to demonstrate how dual-bus FireWire technology can be used to achieve high 160 MB/s data rates.

CABLE LENGTH: The ground-breaking new FirePRO LDR (Long Distance Repeater) will be shown sending 1394b data at 800 Mb/s over 100 meters of standard Cat5e cable. It uses a Gigabit Ethernet physical layer to convert FireWire data to GigE signalling, allowing users to construct a reliable, high-speed network of FireWire cameras that is located up to 100 m from the host system.

SIZE AND VERSATILITY: Many vision applications often require the image sensor or camera to be mounted in a very small space, and multiple sensor and resolution choices available in a common form factor. Point Grey will demonstrate the four latest models of the Flea®2 family of the world’s smallest IEEE 1394b digital cameras, including the 1.3 MP 30 FPS version using the Sony® ICX445 CCD, and the 5 MP 7.5 FPS version using the new Sony ICX655 CCD.

FLEXIBILITY: Multiple Firefly® MV's, each equipped with a miniature 1394 connector, will be shown connected to a newly designed 6-port board level 1394a hub, demonstrating how extremely compact and inexpensive multiple camera arrays can be created.

VALUE: Selecting the right interface at the start can save a significant amount time, resources and money, both during initial application development and for future projects. Point Grey will show how a complete imaging solution, including PC, cables, optics, cameras and software, can be constructed for less than USD $1000 using the Chameleon™ 1.3 MP CCD USB 2.0 camera and the upcoming FlyCapture 2.0 SDK.

FREE SHOW PASSES: Please come and visit us at VISION 2008 in Hall 4, Booth A31, by e-mailing newsletter@ptgrey.com and requesting a free show pass. We will send you a link and special code you need to register.
